Well this is my first attempt to write something that rhymes so please bear with me :)
And it's inspired by the style of E. A. Poe The greatest demon When i turned my face up high, looking into the midnight sky, thrilled was i at such a sight, spectacular above me in the night, the stars had risen to their fullest glory. But the ruler of the night, the moon, had attracted my awestruck gaze so soon, that not i, nor any being else, had noticed the dark thing that swells, entertaining only thoughts so dreary. It was a being that, unearthly did not know such things as mercy, for from the very depths of hell this terrible demon, it's foul smell, had come to bring us evil only. The cold then crawling down my skin slowly let my body spin to face the demon from the abyss, my mind denying what exists, as i hoped, in my thoughts only. So much i hoped that i was mistaken, only dreamed and would soon awaken, that not a single step i ever took, so frozen was i, in the beast's dark look, eyes of blackness, devouring every hope. Then suddenly it began to move, the ground shattering under its hoof, for truly enourmous the thing was, a thousand pounds of pure red mass emanating hellish heat that burned my smallest hope. My body still was stiff from fear, i tried to scream but could not hear, for the demon had begun to roar, a sound of evil that shook my core, shattering my inner self, the foundations of my soul. Then, slowly, the thing began to speak: "Poor human, i knew thy soul was weak, that my appearance would frighten you to thy bone, now my work is done and i shall leave your body alone." Then the demon was gone, dissappearing trough the ground. For a long time i stood there very still, i had been so sure the thing had come to kill. But this was the truth! it became crystal clear my heart had been stopped by the greatest demon: fear. And now the devil could draw my spririt trough the ground. |
